“EAST MEETS WEST”
QUINTESSENCE AND MISCHIEF OF ITALIAN FASHION IN VIETNAM
HANOI (18 Oct, 2006) – Italian fashion show entitled “Dall’Occidente All’Oriente - East Meets West” will be organized by Embassy of Italy in cooperation with Le & Brothers Limited (Le Bros) at 6pm on 20 Oct 2006 at the Daewoo Hotel. “East meets West” is the opening event of the Week of Italian Cultura ’06 in Vietnam with the participation of two young designers, Wilma Traldi and Nadia Ciani and 10 designers from the High School of Fashion and Design of Naples.
The fashion show will take watchers to the world of Italian fashion quintessence which has long been famous for its luxuriousness, attraction and stylishness. More than 60 impressive costumes in Ago go collection of Wilma Traldi and Nadia Ciani are inspired by their endless trips. Each costume, each detail conveys an interesting story and lots of novelties that the two designers gained from their travels. Traveling seemingly has become the limitless inspiration for multicolor, multicultural collections branded Ago go. Watchers will surely be surprised at costumes in which a lower part becomes an upper part or you can find a fried egg pattern on a sleeve of a formal shirt. Undeniably, it is irony and multicultural feature to bring the newest and most attractive to this collection.
The main sponsor Piaggio, a famous representative of the Italian style and culture - not only a worldwide renowned scooter brand - as well will participate with their own fashion collection. Piaggio will present a collection of luxurious and chic Vespa, which promise breakthroughs in fashion style of motorbike. Watchers will certainly find much sympathy and similarity with the Vespa fashion collection because many ancient and new-model Vespa still appear on crowded roads of Hanoi and Sai Gon. For a long time, luxurious and attractive style of Vespa has become a representative of Italian fashion and culture to Vietnamese. The collection featuring cotton pull and polo shirts with the “CHI VESPA” apple symbol, the famous image linked with Piaggio’s revolutionary advertising campaign in 1970s, will be a “must-see” fashion collection of the “East meets West” fashion show. The polo styled overcoats stand out with the “Vespa” patterned on the shirt chests, folded-down collars, grabbed fringes and wristbands. Filled with Vespa’s traditional colors such as white, deep blue, plum and light blue, the collection also offers woolen caps, visored hats, scarves for both men and women and Vespa silk ties for cool weather of autumn-winter in Hanoi.
As the name of the show, the combination of East and West is clearly manifested in the collection of ten young designers from the High School of Fashion and Design of Naples. 50 costumes are inspired by an Oriental style but with a typically Italian pinch of mischief. The collection is the working and creative result of talented students from the High School of Fashion and Design of Naples once presented at Alta Moda Roma fashion week last July and toured to Canton, China last September. Typical exquisiteness, neatness of Italian fashion, fizz and strong impression of youth are an unforgettable impression the collection makes on watchers.
As the first activity launching the week of Italian Culture ‘06 in Vietnam, the fashion show “East meets West” is organized by the Embassy of Italy in Vietnam in cooperation with Le & Brothers Limited (Le Bros) and sponsored by Piaggio, Davines, Hanoi Daewoo Hotel, Ariston, Saigon Van and Pane e Vino Restaurant.
