Scholarships

 

The Italian Embassy in Hanoi acts as intermediary between students who wish to obtain scholarships and Italian universities that offer them.

A soon as the Cultural Office receives information about scholarships, the announcements are published on-line on the Italian Embassy website: www.ambhanoi.esteri.it

 

ü      Italian Ministry for Foreign Affairs

Annually, the Italian Minister for Foreign Affairs issues its annual announcement of scholarships offered by the Italian government to foreign citizens and Italians residing abroad. The application forms can be downloaded from the website of the Italian Embassy in Hanoi, www.ambhanoi.esteri.it, as well as from the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs:

The announcement contains instructions on participation requirements, study and research centres and the type of scholarships offered. In order to be eligible for the scholarships, students have to possess these necessary qualifications:

 

·        Proficiency in Italian language.

·        Maximum age: 35 years

·        Concrete motivation to effectuate studies and researches according to the scholarship

·        Final studing title that allous signing to the selected insitution

·        Educational qualifications: candidates must possess the certificate required by the institutions they applied for. Such a qualification must be officially translated into Italian and duly certified (Dichiarazione di valore) by the Italian Embassy. The Dichiarazione di valore is a statement issued by the Italian Embassy in Hanoi that describes all the basic characteristics of the foreign qualification.

 

-         To apply for Undergraduate Studies, candidates must possess a secondary school leaving qualification;

-         To apply for a Specialisation Degree or for a 1st or 2nd Level Master Degree, candidates must possess a degree certificate;

-         To apply for single courses, candidates must possess an enrollment certificate from their University.

-         To apply for Italian language and culture courses, candidates must possess a secondary school leaving qualification.

 

·        Age limit: in order to be eligible for a scholarship, candidates must not be older than 35 years. The age limit is not applied to Italian language teachers.

 

 Preference titles:

Possession of these requirements, particularly of the level of italian language knowledge, will be examined with an interview   at the cultural office of the Embassy.

 

The deadline will be April 24th 2006..

 

·        University studies. You can attend a single university course, from 5 up to 8 months, at the end of which you have to hold the relative exam; or you can choose to attend courses up to 12 months of a Degree Course (1st or 2nd Cycle).

-         Postgraduate studies (3rd Cycle). You can attend a postgraduate course up to 12 months. For PhD courses, the admission is regulated by the single universities. We recommend to contact directly the university you have chosen.

 

·        Artistic studies. You can attend courses held in Music, Dance, Cinema, Drama, and Restoration Academies, whose duration usually varies from 1 to 12 months.

 

·        Research. You can carry out your research project from 5 to 8 months. You must enrol in and attend an undergraduate, graduate or postgraduate course.

 

ü      Siena and Perugia Universites for Foreigners

The two Italian Universities for Foreigners annually award scholarships to Vietnamese students who wish to improve their fluency in Italian language. These scholarships contribute to living expenses and course fees, their duration varies between 1 and 9 months. The announcements are usually published in March.

ü      Other types of scholarships

Besides the above-mentioned universities, each year almost every Higher Education Institution awards scholarships to foreign students, which cover at least university fees (e.g., Bocconi University, ENI Corporate University, etc.).

Interested students should find all the information directly in the universities’ websites.

The age limitation is usually indicated in each announcement of scholarships. If it’s not indicated, students who are more than 35 years old cannot obtain ask for scholarships. This doesn’t’ apply to teachers who wish to attend a Postgraduate course in Teaching Italian to non-native Speakers. But they have to prove Italian teaching activities.
